How Hirezen interview plans are structured
Every plan is a time-boxed script: what to say, what to ask, what each question is for, and what to listen for in the answer. Below is what each part of a plan is for, and the opening and closing that most plans share.
What’s in a plan
On a plan page, purpose, signals and follow-ups are folded under the topic or question they belong to.
- Opening and closing
- How the interview starts and ends, with the minutes each takes. Most plans share them; they are below.
- Topics
- A label over the questions it covers, saying what they probe, with its own purpose and its minutes.
- Script
- What to say and what to ask, written to be read aloud as it stands rather than paraphrased.
- Purpose
- What the topic or question is for — what it separates, and why it is there.
- Signals to score
- What a strong answer contains: the things to listen for and score against.
- Follow-up questions
- Where to push when the first answer is thin, or too smooth.
The standard opening
Most plans budget five minutes to settle the candidate and explain the shape of the hour before any assessment starts. The script is the same across those plans, so it lives here rather than on each one:
Purpose
Helps make the candidate feel comfortable, sets a friendly tone, and explains how the interview will proceed.
Interviewer
“Hi, I’m [YOUR_NAME], and I’m a [YOUR_TITLE] at [COMPANY_NAME]. I’m excited to learn more about your experience today.”
Opening question
Could you briefly introduce yourself and share what attracted you to apply for this position?
The standard closing
Plans end by handing the last few minutes to the candidate and saying what happens next.
Do you have any questions for me?
“Thank you for your time today. We’ll be in touch soon regarding the next steps.”
Plans that do it differently
Not every plan uses this framing. The hand-written ones open with lines of their own and close with something specific to the round — a commitment the interviewer makes, or what goes into the write-up. Where a plan does that, its own opening and closing are on the plan itself.
